Lakeland Trails Helvellyn 2026

The Lakeland Trails Helvellyn event begins and ends by Ullswater in Glenridding, a village in the Lake District situated below Helvellyn. This autumn trail-running event offers 5K, 10K, and 15K distances. The 5K is open to participants aged 12 and up with no time restriction. The 10K is for those aged 16 and over, with a 2-hour time limit. The 15K is divided into a Challenge and a Race, both for adults. The courses follow marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways into the foothills of Helvellyn. They feature runnable ascents and descents, avoiding mountain-race scrambling. Participants will gain elevated views over Ullswater and towards Helvellyn and other Lake District fells, although the terrain can be uneven in sections. The 15K Challenge allows less competitive runners and walkers up to 3 1/2 hours to complete the course. The 15K Race is a faster 2-hour option, and prizes are awarded only to participants in the 15K Race start.
