Über dieses Rennen
The Sapporo Marathon takes runners through central Sapporo in autumn, featuring a half marathon as its primary event and shorter races for families and children. Over 14,000 participants travel from all over Japan, establishing it as one of Northern Japan’s largest community running events. The half marathon follows a course certified by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations, while the 5 km, 3 km, 2 km, and 1 km races are held within Makomanai Park, offering opportunities for beginners and young runners on the same day.
The course winds past Sapporo landmarks such as Susukino, the city’s entertainment district, and Odori Park, providing a distinct urban atmosphere rather than a secluded park circuit. This event has been a fixture in the community for approximately 50 years, and organizers present it as a collective effort involving runners, volunteers, staff, and local residents. A unique aspect is its "my bottle, my cup run" approach at water stations, encouraging participants to use their own containers rather than disposable cups.
