Amersfoort is dead flat with fast road cycling through the Utrechtse Heuvelrug nature reserve just south of the city; the Ronde van Ugchelen uses these quiet rural loops. Runners find the terrain equally quick on the compact ringroad and nearby parks, though serious riders head north toward Nijmegen (50km) where the longer Ronde van Nijmegen crosses the Waal. The local duathlon circuit—Duo Marathon Putten and Raamvallei Duomarathon both start within 20km—draws weekend racers keen on mixed-terrain loops and canal-side running.
