5K Reindeer Trot

The 5K Reindeer Trot is the 5K run/walk option at Minneapolis's Reindeer Run, a Christmas-season race around Lake Harriet. The event also offers 10K and 15K distances, with the longer races starting earlier in the morning and the 5K starting later. This is a Minnesota running tradition that goes back to 1987, and the race leans into the holiday theme more than a typical road run. Runners show up in costumes, finishers get a shirt and medal, age group awards are given, and participants can take photos with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and Rudolph.
