Über dieses Rennen
At McDowell Mountain Regional Park's Four Peaks Staging Area, the 6 & 12 Hours of Fury challenges mountain bikers to complete as many laps as possible within six or twelve hours. The event takes place on a Saturday during the cooler season, featuring separate wave starts for 12-hour quads, duos, 12-hour solos, and 6-hour solos. Participants can compete individually or as part of duo and quad teams, with categories including men, women, coed teams, single-speed riders, juniors, masters, and various age groups. Riders continuing after early evening must equip a front light with sufficient battery for the dark finish hours.
The lap course incorporates named trail sections such as Hallmo Wash, Pemberton, Granite, Delsie, Cinch, and Escondido. The longest segment measures 6.5 miles, with the final section being only 0.2 miles. Live results are updated every five minutes via chip timing, and laps completed after a rider's six- or twelve-hour limit are not counted. Team racing includes a unique ritual: duo and quad riders exchange a rubber ducky baton in the designated tent, with only one teammate permitted on the course simultaneously. Solo riders, or teammates beginning another lap, may proceed immediately after crossing the finish line, while food, drinks, and support are managed at the campsite. All participants receive custom smart wool socks from Sockguy, a fitting memento for a race focused on cool-weather desert laps, campsite management, and consistent lap accumulation rather than a traditional finish line.
