Über dieses Rennen
The DAV 5K Boston begins and ends at DCR Fort Independence on Castle Island. The race uses South Boston as its base, with Boston Harbor nearby. Organized by the DAV Department of Massachusetts, this event takes place on Veterans Day Weekend and offers 5K and 1-mile options for running, walking, or rolling. Its purpose is to thank veterans and service members, and to raise awareness about the daily challenges faced by ill and injured veterans. Benefits are offered to veterans, active-duty service members, reservists, National Guard members, and cadets during race weekend. Participants include those with military ties, their families, local runners, walkers, and supporters.
The 5K course is noted as one of Boston's fastest and flattest, suitable for beginners and those aiming for a personal best. The route concludes outside Fort Independence, followed by a post-race gathering in South Boston. Fundraising is integral to the event; top teams and individual fundraisers are recognized and awarded at the closing ceremonies. The race committee collaborates with Massachusetts state agencies, DCR, State Police, Boston EMS, and the City of Boston for event execution. The community engages via social media, the #VetsRunBoston hashtag, and a DAV 5K Boston Strava group for New England runners.
