About
Dead Run is a morning 5K through downtown Raleigh, beginning on South Wilmington Street near Centro. It is downtown Raleigh's only 5K followed by a street festival, and the race raises funds for the Boys & Girls Club. The event operates as a community race, attracting people of various ages with both the run and the post-race block party.
The course follows downtown Raleigh streets, then shifts to the Centro block of Wilmington Street for vendors and food after the finish. The Day of the Dead theme is integrated into the event: two traditional altars are present, and the festival offers a way to learn about and participate in the observance. Runners get a race tee designed by Ruben Rodriguez, and a post-race drink from Trophy Brewing Company, with non-alcoholic choices provided.
