The Dogwood Azalea 5K is a flat road 5K held at Rolwing Park in Charleston, Missouri, during the city’s annual Dogwood Azalea Festival. The main race follows a USATF-certified course on local streets. Packet pick-up and registration are at the Scout Cabin. This event is structured as a community race, featuring a 5K, a short Youth Run of about one-third of a mile, and a one-block Toddler Run.
The 5K route is clearly marked, with police stationed at several intersections and coned lanes separating runners from traffic. A water stop is provided around 1.75 miles into the course, and restrooms are available at the park. Awards are extensive for a small festival race: trophies go to the overall male and female finishers, age-group awards range from 0-6 through 80+, and all Youth Run and Toddler Run finishers receive an award. A $500 prize is offered for any runner who breaks the male or female course record.
