The Girl Scout Island Ultra is a trail race weekend held at Rose Dhu Island Camp in Savannah, Georgia. The race is situated on an island noted as the birthplace of Girl Scouts. The event offers distances ranging from a 10K to ultra distances including 50K, a 50K relay for teams of up to five, 100K, and 100 miles.
Access to the camp is via a quiet neighborhood and a one-lane bridge onto the island, with volunteers directing traffic. The weekend is structured to be relaxed and social. Participants have the flexibility to run any distance they choose. Leashed, well-behaved dogs are permitted. Ultra runners may establish personal aid canopies in specified zones. Packet pickup, a pre-race dinner, and an FAQ session are scheduled for Friday. On-site camping options include cabins, perches, elevated tent platforms, primitive sites, and vehicle spaces, with access to showers and bathrooms throughout the weekend.
