MCM8K

The MCM8K is the shorter road race within Marine Corps Marathon Weekend, held in West Potomac Park on the morning before the marathon. It offers runners an 8K distance, replacing the former 10K. This quick distance is suitable for first-time racers, club members, and those seeking the MCM atmosphere without committing to the full marathon. The course details are still being confirmed, but the race incorporates the same Marine Corps involvement as the main marathon: Marines will assist runners along the route, and finishers will earn an official MCM Weekend medal, carrying the Semper Fi theme. The broader weekend is also undergoing changes, with the expo relocating to the National Building Museum and extending to four days. Registration capacity is increasing to 40,000 participants. The 50K event has been removed from the schedule, though organizers aim to introduce a new event in that slot eventually.
