Über dieses Rennen
The Mid-South Races for Hope begin and end at Wynne Baptist Church in Cross County, offering marathon, half-marathon, and 5K distances during the fall race weekend. Now in its 27th year, the event originated from the race previously known as the Mid-South Marathon. It appeals to runners and walkers seeking a rural road race over a large urban event, and the marathon course is certified as a Boston Marathon qualifier.
The races feature out-and-back routes that pass through a section of the historic district before proceeding along Crowley's Ridge and through harvest fields. Aid stations are positioned approximately every mile, equipped with portable toilets and supplies including Vaseline, Gatorade, fruit, and snacks. Participants and their families receive a BBQ plate supper at the finish line, and local restaurants provide pasta specials throughout marathon weekend. The race also reflects a recovery narrative, as the Cross County community continues to rebuild and progress following a tornado.
