Outlaw Ranch Gravel is a fall long-weekend gravel ride hosted at Outlaw Ranch Retreat Center, located near Custer, South Dakota, in the Black Hills. Participants lodge at the basecamp for three nights, selecting short or long routes daily, typically between 25 and 49 miles. Registration covers lodging, six meals, sag support, marked routes, cue sheets, and on-site mechanical assistance from Berry Fast Bicycles. Lunches are provided during town stops.
The cycling combines Black Hills pavement and gravel, not a single fixed course. Riders may traverse Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Road, discover gravel roads west of Custer, or ride south from Custer to Pringle and return. Pringle route options are offered at 33, 47, or 59 miles. The weekend functions as a riding retreat, offering nearby hiking trails, lake canoeing, or horseback riding between cycling sessions. A portion of each entry fee contributes to Wacante Kiyapi’s efforts in developing biking infrastructure on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
