Gravelei Südsteiermark

Gravelei Südsteiermark is a gravel and off-road bike weekend held in Gamlitz, within the South Styrian wine region known as the Tuscany of Styria. It takes place in late May and is designed for gravel bikes, mountain bikes, e-gravel bikes, e-MTBs, and e-bikes. An unsupported option is available for those preferring self-sufficiency. The event has a relaxed format, allowing participants to time themselves or enjoy the scenery and food stops at their own pace. The event provides three route options, catering to both novice and experienced gravel riders. The surrounding area features over 1,100 km of mapped bike routes and numerous marked tours. The Gravelei routes utilize this terrain, guiding riders through forests, along rivers, over gravel paths, past local points of interest, and to scenic overlooks. One intermediate route, "der Wüdn," ascends to the Remschnigg-Alm. This location is linked to a local tale of separated lovers, historically divided by the Austrian-Slovenian border. At the refreshment stop there, participants can sample Verhackertbrot, a Styrian specialty, while enjoying views across South Styria and Slovenia.
