The Oberwölzer Altstadtkriterium is a cycling criterium held in Oberwölz, Austria, taking place within the town’s historic old center. It transforms narrow old-town streets into a compact race arena, presenting riders with a technically demanding course instead of a straightforward road race. A recent edition featured 163 starters, with Arno Kaspret and Maja Mencigar winning their respective categories.
The race is designed for close viewing, with spectators lining the route to witness repeated passes as the fields contend for position on the tight course. The event also includes a team competition, adding another dimension to the individual races. Sportunion Oberwölz-Lachtal, Sektion Wintersport organizes the event, supported by a significant volunteer effort involving 52 staff members.
