The Schoberstein-Lauf begins at Parkplatz Klausriegler in Ternberg, situated at 650 meters elevation, and concludes atop Schoberstein at 1,260 meters. This mountain running race, typically held in late November, features a mass start. Online registration is available for a standard fee of €15, with late entry priced at €18 up to a short period before the event.
The distinctive feature of this race is that participants select their own paths to the finish, rather than adhering to a single designated route. All participants are included in a general classification, with distinct rankings for women and men. Children are also welcome to compete. The organizing body, the trail running division of WSV Trattenbach, offers a clothing transport service to the Schoberstein hut, prohibits the use of Nordic Walking poles for safety reasons, and concludes the event with awards for the fastest female and male runners, alongside a prize draw.
