The Illumin8 Challenge is a free night-time charity walk/run held at Avondale University in Cooranbong. It is structured around an after-dark loop, not a single fixed race distance. Participants begin at 6pm and may complete between one 5.25km lap and eight laps over an eight-hour period, with each new lap commencing on the hour. The event supports sight restoration in India, linking the chosen distance to a charitable aim beyond just finishing time.
The course follows a 5.25km loop across the university grounds, illuminated by glow sticks for a night run or walk. The hourly schedule allows participants time between laps to rest, use the fire pits for warmth, and enjoy live entertainment before deciding to proceed. Families, novices, walkers, runners, and experienced athletes are welcome, as the format enables individuals to select their own distance without obligation to complete all eight laps.
