Dinden National Park provides The Turtle and the Lamb Trail Run with an authentic bush-trail atmosphere. Race HQ is situated along Davies Creek Road, with routes traversing dirt roads, Ridge Trail, and Kahlpahlim Rock Trail. This is a genuinely challenging trail run, featuring climbs, uneven terrain, and sufficient elevation changes to warrant the "stunning ridge views" earned by reaching them.
The primary course is a "figure 8" loop that ascends to Turtle Rock, descends via "The Hurtle Down the Turtle," and then proceeds toward Lamb’s Head. Shorter routes include the Turtle Rock climb and a finish by the creek. The shortest course is designed for juniors and younger participants, heading towards the rear of Turtle Rock before returning. Participants must carry their own hydration, as water stations are cup-free. This detail highlights the event's focus on the runner's experience over a highly polished presentation.
