The 6 uur van Aalter is a six-hour race held in July in Aalter, Belgium, starting at Lindestraat 17. Participants aim to cover as many meters as possible within the six-hour time limit. Entry is available for individuals running the full duration or for relay teams sharing the effort. Both individual and relay runners begin at the same time. The event has a participant limit of 150, combining both solo and team entries.
The course is a traffic-free loop of approximately 1,414 meters, meaning the race consists of repeated laps. A section of the course passes through a sports hall, offering a change from the outdoor loop with added atmosphere from spectators and noise. The race commences after the song “Eye of the Tiger” is played, and a DJ plays music selected by the runners throughout the event. Extensive aid is provided, including water, isotonic drinks, electrolytes, cola, bananas, candy, salty snacks, nuts, chips, and gingerbread, with a recovery drink offered post-race. Solo six-hour runners receive a T-shirt, and awards are presented to top individual runners and teams.
