Brugse Ekiden

The Brugse Ekiden is a relay marathon held in Bruges, taking place on the athletics track at Sport Vlaanderen Brugge on Matmeers. Teams of up to six runners collectively cover the marathon distance by completing twenty laps of 2.1 km each. The race is scheduled for late August and is organized by AC Sodibrug in conjunction with the City of Bruges and Sport Vlaanderen. Entry for the Ekiden requires advance registration. The team format allows flexibility, with runners deciding on the day who completes which laps and how many each person runs. The event also features a kids run and a G-run, both offering advance or same-day entry, extending participation beyond full relay teams. Registered runners receive a functional running shirt. Participants in the kids run and G-run are given a goodie bag. The track facilities provide convenient amenities, including supervised bag storage, changing rooms, and showers located under the grandstand, along with snacks and drinks available at the bar.
