Roc d’Ardenne is a mountain bike event held in May in Houffalize, within the Belgian Ardennes. It was established as Belgium’s response to France’s Roc d’Azur. The primary Roc d’Ardenne race covers approximately 60 to 66 km, varying with the official course, and includes around 1,800 metres of elevation gain. While shorter than the Roc Marathon, it still demands significant stamina and proficient bike handling.
The weekend covers various MTB disciplines: a climbing time trial, an E1 cross-country race, and a marathon event. Participants are released in waves, with UCI-ID riders starting first, followed by others arranged by their registration order. Timing is managed by chip, recording net time from the start line to the finish. The event offers practical, characteristic Belgian provisions: a marked course, feed stations, technical and medical assistance, a bike park, showers, a bike wash facility, a finisher shirt, and a Chouffe beer upon completion.
