The Semi Marathon de Binche begins at the Grand-Place, opposite the mask museum, in Binche, Belgium. This Saturday afternoon road race offers three distances: 6 km, 12 km, and a 21 km half marathon, alongside children’s and junior races. It is organized by the Funny Running Team of Binche, a local running club, with ASBL Binche Sport and the city’s support. Pre-registration is advised, and the event maintains a club atmosphere rather than a large commercial one.
The courses wind through Binche, a city in Hainaut known for its medieval architecture and distinct local character. The Parc Communal Binchois, located behind the Collégiale, functions as the race center for bib collection, changing facilities, bag storage, and the post-race area. Local runners, participants from Hainaut, families, and children in the “little champions” race all take part. The event provides practical amenities for participants: bag drop is complimentary and supervised, and showers and massages are available post-race. The awards include cups, a raffle, finisher medals, treats for children, and bottles of Binchoise beer for the top three in each category.
