The Longest Day Trail begins and ends at the Val de Wanne ski slope in Trois-Ponts, a village in the Ardennes of Belgium’s Walloon region, in southern Liège province. Held in June, it is a trail-running event focused on steep forest courses rather than road speed. The event offers four distances: 50 km with 1800 m of climbing, 36 km with 1400 m, 24 km with 900 m, and a 10 km race with 350 m of elevation gain.
The routes go into the hilly woods surrounding Trois-Ponts, so even the shortest option requires runners to climb. The 50 km race is in the Trail S category, while the 36 km race is listed as Trail XS, and the event is part of the UTMB Index. Sportevents organizes the race, providing aid stations, medical support, and time barriers on the longer formats. Now in its tenth edition, the setup remains straightforward: choose a distance, start on the ski slope, and spend the day navigating Ardennes climbs and forest tracks.
