The Kitchener 5K Foam Fest uses 2.5 million cubic feet of foam over a 5 km obstacle fun run at Victoria Park in Kitchener, Ontario. Runners start in waves from morning to afternoon, with new groups beginning every 15 minutes. This event offers a playful obstacle course rather than a standard road race; participants can walk, run, charge through, or proceed at their own speed. It is open to ages 7 and up, and children aged 7 to 12 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
The course includes over 25 optional obstacles, such as mud pits and the world's largest inflatable waterslide. Beginners can bypass any obstacle they find challenging, while experienced runners can attempt all of them. The festival grounds feature music, food, local vendors, and a beer garden, with free entry for spectators. Children 6 and under are not permitted to run the 5K but have access to a free Kids FUN Zone with a mini inflatable obstacle course and bounce house. The event collaborates with Make-A-Wish Canada, adding a fundraising component to the foam and obstacles.
