At Laketown Ranch Music & Recreation Park near Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island, The 5K Foam Fest is a 5K obstacle-course fun run centered on foam, water, and mud, not on racing the clock. The course includes over 25 obstacles, such as mud pits, the world's largest inflatable waterslide, and an estimated 2.5 million cubic feet of foam. Runners depart in waves from morning until early afternoon. The pace is intentionally relaxed: participants may walk, run, or push harder, and all obstacles are optional.
The event welcomes participants aged 7 and up. Children aged 7 to 12 run with a registered adult, and teenagers may run without a chaperone. Younger children cannot enter the 5K, but a free kids zone is available for ages 6 and under, featuring smaller inflatable activities. The festival area is open to spectators at no charge and offers local vendors, food, music, and a beer garden, allowing friends and family to attend without registering for the course. The event also collaborates with Make-A-Wish Canada, with fundraising linked directly to registration and donations.
