The Niederhorn Berglauf begins at the Niederhornbahn in Beatenberg, directing runners directly uphill toward a summit viewpoint overlooking Lake Thun. This is a yearly late-summer mountain race, covering 8 kilometers with 892 meters of elevation gain, and it is fully marked.
The course proceeds from Beatenberg to Vorsass, then circles up to the Niederhorn summit. Nearly the entire path is on natural trail, not road. Local trail runners compete alongside international participants, and the organizers welcome those new to mountain running.
