Swiss Canyon Trail 2026

The Swiss Canyon Trail is a three-day trail running event held in Val-de-Travers, located in Switzerland’s Neuchâtel canton, close to the French border. Since 1994, it has attracted over 3,000 participants annually to the Jura region, offering five primary race distances ranging from 16K to 111K. The 16K Discovery Trail accommodates Nordic Walking, while the longer events present significant challenges: the 51K includes 2,632 meters of elevation gain, the 81K has 3,491 meters, and the 111K Ultra Trail features 5,294 meters. The race emphasizes the rugged Jura landscape over smooth, quick running, with descriptions noting the terrain as wild and untamed. Its regional character is connected to Val-de-Travers history and the "Green Fairy," a moniker referencing the area's absinthe tradition. The participants include ultra runners, mid-distance trail runners, short-course participants, Nordic walkers, and children in a dedicated race, indicating the weekend caters to a diverse group beyond just those competing in the 111K.
