The Valser Herbstlauf is a 12 km trail race in Vals. The main route ascends from the village toward Zerfreila and Gadastatt. This is an autumn mountain run, not a flat road race. The full course covers approximately 730 meters in elevation change, from its lowest point to its high point at Frunt.
Runners begin on the village square in Vals, proceed through the village, and join the Old Zerfreilaweg. They then follow a single trail towards Zerfreila. The course crosses the Zerfreila dam and crosses a significant portion of the Vals Valley’s largest forest. It continues via Frunt to the finish at Gadastatt. Youth and children’s races are also offered, including a 3.8 km youth run and an obstacle course for children around Gadastatt. Timing is provided, luggage transport is organized, and trekking poles are permitted if carried to the finish.
