Kros na Hrádku is a four-mile cross-country run in the middle of Bohemia, set around a neo-Gothic castle and its English park. The race evokes an old-fashioned island steeplechase mood, with grass, soil, fog, and autumn air setting the tone more than road-race gloss.
The course uses the castle grounds and parkland, incorporating a landscape once shaped by a nine-hole golf course. The castle’s cornerstone was laid about 180 years ago. The race adopts one of its traditions: a 400-year-old goblet, once filled with wine for new guests, is now signed by the winner. Anna of Harrach Cafe on the castle grounds provides a natural base before or after the run.
