The Písek Sokolský běh republiky begins and ends next to the music pavilion in Palackého sady, a park in the South Bohemian town of Písek. The race takes place on the Czech state holiday commemorating the founding of Czechoslovakia, as part of the Sokolský běh republiky series held throughout the Czech Republic and internationally. TJ Sokol Písek coordinates the local event, offering short races for children and a 5.35 km main race for older participants.
The youngest children compete in a 100 m race, with other junior races covering 400 m, 800 m, and 1,500 m on routes marked with arrows and flags. The children’s race turnarounds are near the monument to Czech pilots, past the Stone Bridge, and before the footbridge over the island. The main 5.35 km route turns near Ševčík’s gazebo behind Smeták. Participation is limited to 200 children and 150 adults. All finishers receive a medal. Participants also collect a start package before the race, and official shirts and headbands are available for order during online registration.
