The Turm zu Turm Lauf is a spring running event in Georgsmarienhütte, starting at Auf dem Rehlberg. TVG Georgsmarienhütte organizes races ranging from a 400 m Bambini run through 1 km, 3.3 km, and 10 km options, up to a challenging 24 km route. It is a fixture in the running calendar for the Osnabrück region and nearby Westphalia, attracting a local mix of children, youth runners, club runners, and adults participating in distances from short sprints to long trail-style efforts.
The name translates to “tower to tower,” and the long route embodies this by connecting two local viewpoints. The 24 km course goes by the Hermannsturm and the Varusturm, with the overall event characterized as a landscape run rather than a pure road race. The majority of the loop crosses forest terrain on varied ground, featuring only brief paved sections, making footing and rhythm more critical than on a flat city course. The afternoon program includes separate Bambini and children’s races, contributing to the event’s family atmosphere before the longer distances extend into the woods.
