Schmachtendorfer Nikolauslauf is a late-November running event in Oberhausen-Schmachtendorf, Germany, organized by Spvgg. Sterkrade-Nord 1920/25 e.V. Start and finish are at Sportplatz Buchenweg, so the race day is based around the local sports ground rather than a city-center course. It includes a Bambini race for the youngest runners and longer races for older children and adults, with electronic timing handled by TAF-TIMING through a chip in the bib.
The Bambini race is one 300-meter lap around the artificial turf field at Buchenweg, while the other races run mostly on forest paths in the Dunkelschlag. Awards are presented soon after each race, with prizes for the top three in each class, and every participant receives a Stutenkerl, the sweet bread figure tied to St. Nicholas season in Germany. Certificates are available on the day or online, and parking is directed to Heinrich-Böll-Gesamtschule and the Schmachtendorfer Straße market square.
