GlückLauf

GlückLauf is a June running event in Salzgitter-Gebhardshagen, held at the SV Glück Auf 1901 Gebhardshagen sports field next to the outdoor pool. It accommodates various ages and abilities with a 1.2 km children’s run, a 5.4 km local circuit, a 10.8 km race, a 5.4 km walk, and a trail half marathon limited to 200 participants. The atmosphere resembles a community sports day more than a competitive race, welcoming children, families, walkers, runners, company teams, groups, and clubs. The local circuit is primarily asphalt through Gebhardshagen, passing parks and the water castle before concluding with a lap in the stadium. The trail half marathon presents a more challenging route, featuring nearly 400 meters of elevation gain, approximately 60% singletrack through woodland, and a final steep incline of about 150 meters at a 25% gradient. Team rankings are determined by the three fastest times from each team. The event's straightforward motto, “Everyone their own distance,” reflects its inclusive nature: all finishers receive a metal medal and a certificate.
