Gorch-Fock-Lauf

The Gorch-Fock-Lauf is an annual road race held in June in Wilhelmshaven, a port city in Lower Saxony situated on Germany’s North Sea coast. The event offers a range of distances: student races of 1.5 km, alongside 5 km, 10 km, half marathon, and marathon options. This structure creates a community race day atmosphere, with children, youth, adults, short-distance runners, and marathoners all starting from the same event hub. The races conclude at Kulturzentrum Pumpwerk on Banter Deich. The 5 km and 10 km courses are flat, as are the one-loop courses for the half marathon and marathon. All routes are certified by the DLV. Participants receive a medal and a running shirt, with prize money awarded in the children’s and youth races. The organizing body, Gorch-Fock-Lauf e.V., utilizes volunteers, reinforcing the local character of the race, which is set against Wilhelmshaven’s waterfront.
