Pönitzer Volkslauf

The Pönitzer Volkslauf takes place on a summer morning in Pönitz, Schleswig-Holstein. All races begin and end at Sportpark Lindenstraße. It occurs on the second Sunday in July, featuring a half marathon, 10 km, and 5 km run, alongside 5 km and 10 km walking and Nordic walking events. The primary race commences at 08:30, with shorter distances starting shortly thereafter, creating the feel of a focused local event rather than an extended festival. The courses remain near the sports park, crossing the flat countryside surrounding Pönitz. Participants will encounter hedges, open summer fields, green meadows, and sections close to the coast. This arrangement accommodates various participants: those aiming for a personal best, individuals completing the 5 km, walkers, Nordic walkers, and local club members. All finishers receive a commemorative medal. The event also includes a tombola and award presentations for overall and age-group victors.
