The start and finish are located on Schlossinsel in Lübben, making the Schlossinsellauf feel more like a local sports gathering than a race where participants disperse after receiving their numbers. It caters to children, teenagers, adults, runners, and walkers all in one location, offering Bambini runs, children’s races, longer courses named Spreewaldpendel and Schleife, and a Run and Bike half marathon.
The courses depart the island to traverse the Spreewald, passing through meadows, fields, alongside canals, and along paved and unpaved paths, featuring consistently flat terrain. This event is the most attended in the Spreewaldcup and serves as one of its qualifying races. The Strongest Club award encourages participation from club teams, children’s groups, and many recognizable individuals in the vicinity of the start and finish.
