Carrera Popular Solidaria La Serena-El Llano is a small charity road race in Gijón, Asturias, held in June. It starts at Parque de la Serena on Calle Eleuterio Quintanilla. The main event is a 5 km urban asphalt race. While chip-timed, it is not officially homologated, making it more suitable for neighborhood runners than those seeking a certified time. Entry is limited to 500 participants. A 600-meter circuit is also available for children under 14.
The race is organized by Asociación Sociocultural La Serena, with all entry proceeds benefiting Asociación El Camino de Nora GNA01. The start and finish are located in the same park. Practical amenities include cloakroom service, showers, and food or sandwiches at the finish. A separate modality is provided for wheelchair athletes. Winners receive trophies, and a prize raffle is held, contributing to the event's atmosphere as a local community gathering focused on sport and fundraising.
