Irimora Igoera is a short Basque subida, an uphill race on Mount Irimo above Urretxu. Irimo is nicknamed the Kilimanjaro of Urretxu, and the race uses that mountain directly: it is announced as 4 kilometers, with runners climbing a forest track on steep gradients before returning to the starting point.
This is a small, hard local race rather than a large event, with free entry and prize money for the top five finishers. The field can be modest, but the front end still attracts serious runners, including athletes comfortable on track, cross country, road, and mountain terrain; the climb is steep enough that many runners end up walking parts of it.
