Maratón de San Sebastián

The San Sebastián Marathon takes place in November in Spain’s Basque Country, near the French border. Participants can choose between a full marathon and a 10 km race. The weather is typically cool and often rainy, and the course is known as one of Spain’s quicker marathon routes. The course largely stays within the city center, crossing the Urumea River and running along La Concha Bay. It passes notable sites such as Miramar Palace, the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, and the Sacred Heart statue on Mount Urgull, concluding at Anoeta Stadium. This race originated in the late 1970s, making it Spain’s second oldest marathon. Post-race, runners can explore San Sebastián’s pintxos scene, and a Runner’s Fair is held during race weekend.
