Trail Minero Santa Bárbara starts at Pozo Carrio in Pola de Laviana, in Asturias, Spain, and sits at the end of the mountain-running season. Its Speed Trail Santa Bárbara race is a short but steep mountain run: 16.25 km with 945 meters of climbing, classified as a UTMB Index 20K event. The race is organized by HUNOSA with Grupo Valle de Turón Trail Running, tying it closely to Asturias' mining valleys. It has reached its fifth edition, drew 414 finishers, and one in four participants came from outside the region. Before the competition, runners observe a minute of silence in memory of miners.
