Vertical d'Aran begins in Vielha's Plaça dera Crotz d'Occitania, by the town roundabout, and ascends directly towards Montcorbison's summit. This short mountain race in Val d'Aran presents a significant challenge: just over 4 kilometers with 1,200 meters of uphill elevation gain, concluding at 2,170 meters above sea level.
As a pure vertical race, the objective is not distance but managing a steep, continuous ascent from town to the higher terrain above Vielha. Competitive runners participate in the main race, while the event also accommodates walkers and families with three formats, including a well-liked family walk starting from Bassa d'Oles and walking routes connected to Casau.
