FNLD GRVL is a gravel cycling race held in Lahti, Finland, where participants ride on quiet roads outside the city and into the Finnish Lakeland. It takes place in August and provides several distance choices, ranging from a short forest route to longer rides designed for experienced gravel racers. The event attracts approximately 1,000 riders annually, and its slogan, “The Happiest Gravel Roads On Earth,” aligns with its self-proclaimed friendly atmosphere, conveyed by “Ride with Friends.”
The courses feature marked gravel roads passing through pine forests, alongside lakes, and over terrain influenced by Ice Age geology. The shorter Forest Route offers an e-bike category, the Lakes Route encircles the local lake system, and the longest Midnight Sun Route includes a professional prize fund. FNLD GRVL was established by Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas and the team behind SBT GRVL, creating a unique connection between motorsport and gravel cycling. Lahti has extensive experience hosting events, including IRONMAN 70.3, Red Bull 400, and the annual Lahti Ski Games, ensuring the race welcomes international athletes.
