The Claudio Chiappucci ride starts in Arnay-le-Duc, Côte-d'Or, within France's Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. This road cycling event takes place in early June and offers four distances: 63 km, 80 km, 102 km, and 160 km. The routes are named with an Italian flair: L'Etape de Sestriere (63 km), La Petite Calimero (80 km), El Diablo (102 km), and La Claudio Chiappucci (160 km).
The 160 km route is presented as the most challenging and is also the most frequently chosen. The course winds through the Burgundy countryside, featuring vineyards, castles, and natural landscapes, distinct from an urban race environment. The proximity of notable locations enhances the possibility of extending the event into a cycling weekend: Château de Châteauneuf, the Route des Grands Crus, Beaune with its Hospices and medieval streets, and the Morvan regional natural park, located approximately one hour away. Local gastronomy and wine are also integral to the experience, with tasting opportunities available throughout the region post-ride.
