La Kanerdall starts and finishes at the Moulin de Buding in Buding, a village in Moselle in France’s Grand Est region. It is a winter trail race held around late November or early December, with two distances: 8 km and 16 km. Everyone starts together, then runners choose the shorter or longer route. The race is organized by the association des Arts Hombourgeois and is also called the Kanerdall Trail d’Hiver.
This is a muddy, cold-weather trail rather than a road race, and snow can be part of the day. The event aims itself at trail enthusiasts who are happy with forest paths, wet ground, and winter conditions. It is treated as an important stop on the Grand Est winter running calendar, and recent editions have included athlete Philippe Bonneau as race sponsor, starter, and award-ceremony guest.
