Trail de Montaigu is a forest trail event held in late April in Bouilly, located in the Aube department of France’s Grand Est region. Participants can select from 15 km and 27 km routes, with walking options available: a Nordic walk and a hike are also offered. The 15 km route is the more frequented, having attracted over 400 participants in a past event, while the 27 km route has seen more than 200.
The 15 km course crosses the woods of Souligny and Bouilly, featuring 510 m of elevation gain, making it more than a simple forest run. The 27 km route presents a greater challenge with 840 m of elevation gain, including ascents around Laines aux Bois and Grandes Vallées, and a final climb at the Montaigu site serving as the race’s concluding obstacle. This event primarily caters to trail runners and outdoor enthusiasts who appreciate wooded environments, with the significant climbing making appropriate trail footwear advisable.
