Trail des Glières is a mountain trail-running weekend held in Thorens-Glières, Haute-Savoie, French Alps, scheduled for early October. This will be its fifteenth edition. The program is designed for runners seeking steep forest and alpine terrain, not flat city paths. The current race offerings include routes from short climbs to long mountain efforts: a 10 km with 500 m elevation gain, a 21 km with 1,400 m, a 41 km with 2,400 m, a 56 km with 3,400 m, and the KV des Glières vertical race.
The routes are set within the Bornes massif, with Thorens serving as the start for all trails and the finish for most. The race details also list older or related course names: La Grimpette d'Esparzales, an 11 km self-supported run; Le sentier des Maquisards, a 14 km route with significant descending; Le duo du Roc, a 38 km race for pairs; and Du haut des lapiaz, a 63 km option. Runners start in the Haute Filière state forest. The event embraces Haute-Savoie mountain running characteristics: altitude, cool October air, wooded trails, steep grades, and sufficient climbing to make even shorter distances challenging.
