The Triathlon de Vauban is an annual triathlon event organized by the Besançon Triathlon team in Osselle-Routelle, Doubs. It offers several race formats: an XS triathlon, a children’s race for ages 8 to 12, an S distance (also available as a relay), and an M team time-trial. The XS distance totals 12.8 km, making the weekend accessible for new triathletes and those moving up from youth events.
The event typically spans Saturday and Sunday, starting with the shorter and children’s races, followed by the S and M formats the next morning. It also serves as a stop on the regional paratriathlon challenge, including athletes beyond standard age-group competition. Families, juniors, relay teams, club athletes, and paratriathletes participate in the same weekend. Located in rural eastern France near Besançon and the Royal Saltworks at Arc-et-Senans, the race takes place in a Doubs region where sport, local history, and a small-town race atmosphere converge.
