The Valtriman - M begins with a 1500 m swim in the largest lake north of Paris, located at the lacs du Val Joly near Eppe-Sauvage in northern France. This middle-distance triathlon covers approximately 57.5 km and is held during the Valtriman race weekend within the Avesnois Natural Park. Organized by Team Triathlon Maubeuge, the event follows a swim-bike-run format, distinct from a city-road race.
Following the lake swim, participants cycle about 46 km through a Natura 2000 natural area, encountering around 580 m of elevation gain, indicating the bike course is not flat. The concluding 10 km run takes place on the Val Joly tourist site, with an additional 120 m of elevation gain. The overall weekend features a mixed-gender competition, a Youth Triathlon Championship for the Nord department, and a Challenge Valtriman 90. This latter event combines the Valtriman 30 and Valtriman 60, offering its own podium and additional elements. Team Triathlon Maubeuge characterizes the atmosphere as relaxed and welcoming, consistent with the club's approach.
