The NoMad Ultra is based at Breaston, near M1 Junction 25. Runners can choose between a 50-mile ultra, a 50K, or a team relay challenge. The 50-mile race is a circular, multi-terrain run that primarily follows the Derby Nomad trail, making it more of a navigation and endurance event than a standard road ultra. While listed in the Nottingham area, the longer route is closely connected to Derbyshire paths and the countryside surrounding Derby.
The 50-mile course incorporates canal paths, trails, fields, and some road sections, featuring approximately 605 metres of elevation gain throughout the loop. The 50K shares the start and finish areas but shortens the circuit by crossing the centre of Derby. Participants should possess intermediate navigation skills, as the route, though waymarked for much of its length, requires attention in certain sections. Past results are available, and the event also encourages runners to engage in charity fundraising via GoFundMe.
