Kis-Duna sétány provides the setting for this race, with the route passing through Várhegy, Víziváros, and along the riverside bike path instead of using nondescript roads. The Esztergom Félmaraton feels like a local runner's street race, put on by Esztergomi Futóművek, with the race headquarters at Körösi László Secondary School Dormitory.
The field is diverse: children have their own races, relay teams divide the effort, runners over 60 are acknowledged, and club members are clearly involved. The course includes official checkpoint pressure with cut-off times, but the finish retains an old-school feel: a plaque, chocolate, fruit, and a drink for participants. A unique feature is the ECO registration option, where participants forgo a T-shirt and can select an older medal instead.
