Uppony’s Istvántelep hosts the 7th Lázbérci Sri Chinmoy Futófesztivál, a straightforward race day focused on laps, patience, and steady effort. The Lázbérci Sri Chinmoy Marathon in Uppony Istvántelep is run as a non-profit event, without sponsors, aligning with the Sri Chinmoy philosophy of sport as inner development: “Spread your wings beyond yourself!”
The course consists of a repeated loop on a mostly firm forest road, allowing runners to find rhythm, enjoy shade, and engage in the mental accounting that comes with passing the race center multiple times. Both experienced runners and beginners participate, though the longer distances require respect. Team runners can only change at the race center, and only by lap. Chip timing, comprehensive aid-station support, a calm atmosphere, and a finish medal for those completing the race within the time limit are provided.
